February Fun!

Hodge had fun this February. Here are a few picture from the month!

Matt's mom and dad sent Hodge the cutest card for Valentine's Day. Hodge loved the card because it played a song and his Yaya put two suckers in the envelope for him to enjoy.  He loves to open our mail so he was excited that he received a card in the mail. You can tell by the look on his face that he was a happy boy when he received his Valentine's Day card from his Yaya and Teadaddy!

My mom gave Hodge these shoes at Christmas and I had kind of forgotten about them. I found them in his closet the other day. I was getting Hodge dressed for school one morning and I could not find his Nikes so I showed him these shoes. He said, "Oh cool shoes!" I thought it was funny that he called them cool. After he got home from school that day we were in the backyard playing  and he took his shoes off before he played in his sand box. I always tell him to take his shoes off before he plays in the sand and he remembered this day because he did not want to get his cool shoes dirty!

Hodge loves toast with jelly! One morning he was eating his breakfast and said, "Look mommy my toast is a boat!" It did look like a tugboat. He has a tugboat toy and the shape was the same. A few days later he did the same thing but this time he took the perfect bites to make his toast look like a choo choo train. I guess he can do origami with toast by taking bites out of it! He is creative!

We finally took Hodge to get a pair of cowboy boots. He was very excited! He wore them out of the store.

The next day Hodge wanted to wear his cowboy boots to school. His school has a rule that the kids cannot wear cowboys boots to class. We let him wear them but took another pair of shoes so he could change once he got to class. His teacher said that he could wear them all day! He was  happy that he got to keep them on!

We went to the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Thursday evening. We headed out to the fairgrounds around 5:30 that evening. We started off at the kids area! Hodge enjoyed the petting zoo and a pony ride! We got some rodeo food for dinner and then watched the junior livestock show, pig judging. Then it was time to head over to the coliseum to watch the Rodeo. Hodge lasted about an hour then he was ready to go. We had a great time and we enjoyed ourselves.

Hodge's favorite part of the Rodeo was the bull riding!

Valentine's Day Party

Hodge had a Valentine's Party at his school on Valentine's Day. When I got there he had on the cutest heart hat that he had made. It was more like an indian headdress. The kids looked cute with them on their little heads. The party was fun for the kids and it was fun for me to watch Hodge interact with his classmates. He enjoyed all the valentine's he got in his teddy bear box! He was a little confused the night before the party when we were preparing all the cards and the candy. He wanted to keep them all. I think he got it after he received his box with all the goodies from the other kids.

Hodge took everything out of his box once we got home and went right for the candy!

February Trip to Devine

We went to Devine last Thursday, February 10 to visit my family. I also had a work event on Friday night in downtown San Antonio. There was a fun group of alumni at the event but I am always relieved after work events are over. My staff made the event come together beautifully and it was a successful night! Hodge stayed with my Aunt Sondra and Uncle Ronnie while we all went to the ASU Alumni event at the Menger Hotel. I wanted my parent to attend because they are members of the ASU Alumni Association and this was a chapter event for alumni in the area. My parent did not attend ASU but all three of their children attended and they have been supporters for over 30 years. Hodge had a good time playing with my aunt, she always entertains him. My cousin Shannon even came over to play with Hodge. Both Sondra and Shannon said that Hodge played well but compared to the girls in their family he played rough. They only have granddaughters on that side of the family so a little boy is a change from the girls playing nice and dainty. Sondra and Shannon said that he asked for his Memaw several times but never got upset. We had a late night in San Antonio so we did nothing on Saturday. We just relaxed all day at my mom and dad's house. Sunday my mom brought Granny up to the house to spend the day with us. She even went out to the ranch with us. We also stopped by the Sand Branch Church and Cemetery. This is where Matt and I got married and my grandfather is buried at this Cemetery along with several other family members. My family has a long history at this church. It was nice to stop by the church and visit my grandfathers grave. We had a long weekend and we really did not do to much. The event was fun Friday night and it was nice not having anything else the rest of the weekend. Hodge always has a great time at my parents house and he enjoys all the attention he gets from everyone. Here are a few photos from the church and the ranch. I did not take to many photos during the weekend. I am sad that I did not get some photos of Hodge and his team of babysitters on Friday night. Thanks Sondra, Shannon and Ronnie for watching Hodge! He had a great time!

Goodbye sick and cold!

The week that the cold temperatures hit Texas my family got sick and we did nothing for a week. After our quick trip to Midland the last weekend in January we all started feeling bad.  Hodge was first, then Matt, then I got it last. We visited the doctors office the day the snow and ice hit the hardest. We drove slow and made it safely to our appointments.  We did not have the flu but we had some crazy virus that made us feel really bad. From January 29 until this past weekend we have all been sick and trying to get better. We are so happy that we are feeling better and we are loving the warmer temperature!
Breathing treatments have become a normal part of Hodge's day.
Hodge even played with his mask on his head one day.  I guess he wanted to have it close by if he needed it?
Pete was the only one who enjoyed the snow. He loved playing in it!
Matt did bring a big ice sickle in for Hodge to look at.

Children's Festival

We went to Midland Friday so we could attend the Children's Festival Preview Party. My friend, Kenye Kay, invited us to go with her and her family. My brother-in-law, Aaron, also had a table and took his three youngest daughters to the event while Mikel, my sister-in-law, took their oldest to a volleyball tournament. Children's Festival benefits Bynum School and is a wonderful event for parents and kids. When we lived in Midland I was on the Bynum Board as a Junior League Representative. I really enjoyed being a part of this board. I was glad that we could attend this event and support such a great school. There was also a special performance by Kelly Crook and several other up-and-coming pop stars at the Preview Party. Kelly is from Midland and her dad is Matt's business partner. I was very impressed with Kelly and the other performers. I think it is great that these young artist could come to Midland and perform at the Children's Festival. Hodge had a great time playing with Tucker and Cash and his cousins. Hodge really had a great time!

Chinese Food

Hodge loves Chinese food so last Thursday I took him to the Mathis Field Cafe for dinner. Matt had gone to Midland and was going to stay the night because Hodge and I were coming to Midland on Friday to meet up with him. So, Hodge and I were on are own for the evening. We both love the Chinese food at the Mathis Field Cafe which is at the airport in San Angelo. I would eat there all the time when I was in college. It is fun to go back to my favorite places and take Hodge. This place is always busy and has been that way for years. Hodge not only loves the food but he also loves it when planes are landing! We had a perfect table right by the window to view all the planes coming and going that evening. I always  share an order of General Chow's Chicken with Hodge but I think I am going to start ordering one for me and one for him. He can almost eat the whole order. He loves their egg rolls too! We had the best mother and son dinner enjoying our Chinese food and watching the planes.

Hodge loves the egg rolls!
I love it that the Mathis Field Cafe owners are ASU fans, notice the flag on the wall!
Look a plane is coming in for landing!

After dinner we watched more planes take off!
