Haircut, New Shoes and Meet the Teacher!

Hodge had a lot going on the past few days. On Wednesday morning he got his first big haircut and now he looks like a big boy. We also went shoe shopping later that day, he looks really cute in his new shoes! On Thursday Hodge had meet the teacher at his Children's Day Out program. They had a meeting for the parents while the kids had activities with their teachers. When I dropped Hodge off at his classroom he cried. This was no surprise because he does the same thing at church when I take him to the nursery. He will get better with time and learn to enjoy playing with the other kids. If not we are going to have to go to Memaw's day care in Devine, TX and have a few mini-courses!
Waiting to get Hodge's haircut!
Still waiting!

Happy Anniversary!

Matt and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary August 26th. This photo was taken after our wedding at the turn off to go to the little church where we got married. The Sand Branch Baptist church is out in the country near my families ranch. My great grandparents, my grandparents and my mother were all members of this church. We had this sign on the highway so our guest would not miss the road.

This photo was taken August 30, 2008 at the Sand Branch Baptist Church where we got married. This was Hodge's first trip to South Texas. He was 3 weeks old.

Summer Fun!

Because I have been behind on blogging I wanted to add a few photos from the past month!

My first cousin Karla and her daughter Sage came to visit us at the lake! Next summer we want all of the Woerner family to come and have fun at the lake.

Hodge and Jack love Sage!

Hodge having fun playing in the sprinkler on a hot summer day!

Matt's good friend and hunting buddy Dave gave Hodge a gun for his 1st birthday. Thanks Dave!!!

Cousin Clayton got his birthday gift a little early, he is only 4 months old! We get our guns at an early age around here.

We went swimming at Yaya's! Kaylee and Hodge took a little break.

Hodge is 1 year old!!!

I have been really bad about keeping up with the blog. We have just been very busy this past month. It seems like every day we have had something to do. I usually blog at night when Hodge is asleep but I guess I have been staying up watching TV. I think I spend my nights watching Fox News; I am not a fan of the proposed US healthcare plan. That is a topic and post I really do not even want to blog about. Well, anyway, Hodge has been walking since mid-July and now it seems like he is running. I have to really keep my eyes on him at all times. He turned one on August 5th. We spent the whole week at the lake with family and celebrated his 1st birthday. I had a very small party, I did not even send out invitations. This party was by word of mouth only. If you were at Lake Leon on August 5th and you knew Hodge then you were invited. I made the cakes myself from organic cake mix. I even used organic eggs, organic milk and organic oil. Not that it makes it any better but I just thought it would be fun to make. I also thought I could tell Hodge when he was older that his mother made his 1st birthday cake and it was all organic. I am so glad Matt and I decided to celebrated this day at the lake. The party was very simple, just like the lake makes you feel. It feels like home and is a place filled with happiness. I am very thankful for everyone who could take time out of their week to come and celebrate with us. Herb (Teadaddy) really tried to make the party but we were sad that he could not make it and we missed him. Thank you Mark, Mandy and Clayton Hunter. Thank you Debbie (Yaya), Alissa, Maggie and Kaylee. Thank you Mom (Memaw) and Dad (Pawpaw). Thank you Andy and Tyler and thank you John and Debbie.
My nieces had been swimming on the dock before the party started and I heard Maggie (the 5 year old) say,
“Do I need to change cloths to go to Hodge’s birthday party?”
We all told her no, you can wear your swimsuit! This is a lake birthday party. It was the perfect way to celebrate Hodge’s big day!!!!
Here are some photos from the past month and from Hodge's birthday. Enjoy!

August 1st the girl and Hodge went swimming at Meme's house.

Meme is selling her house so I am glad Hodge got to swim in her pool this summer.
