A Ram Jam Weekend!

November 13 was ASU's last football game. My family came to spend the weekend with us. We went to the football game and the ASU Alumni Association's pre-game party and tailgate called Ram Jam! Everyone arrived in San Angelo Friday evening. Matt grilled steaks and we hung out and visited. Hodge loved playing with his big boy cousin Ben. That is what Hodge calls him. Saturday morning Matt went hunting and came back with a good size buck while we all slept in late. We headed up to Ram Jam and then had fun cheering on the Rams! Everyone headed out of town Sunday and Aunt Stacy who traveled in from California stayed a few days longer so she could spend time with Hodge. Hodge loves all the attention he gets from his Aunt Stacy. Here are some photos from our fun Ram Jam weekend.

A quick trip!

Last week we made a quick trip to Midland. We went to Maggie's soccer game and had dinner with Yaya, Teadaddy, Aunt Mikel and the girls. We stayed the night at Yaya and Teadaddy's house. It is great that we live so close and can come in the middle of the week to visit our family in Midland.

I won a goldfish!

I forgot to include these cute photos from our trip to South Texas. Hodge and I went down to visit Granny and we had no idea that her nursing home was having a Halloween Carnival. We drove up and all the residents were outside. There was a lot of kids outside as well enjoying the games! Hodge jumped in the bounce house and Granny had fun watching him. Hodge and Granny also enjoyed popcorn together and the best part of the whole carnival was that Hodge won a goldfish. He had to toss three ping pong balls into a fish bowl and he did it with his own twist on the game. He did not stand behind the line, he just walked up to the bowl and put the ping pong balls in it. The sweet lady running the game was nice and went ahead and gave him his prize! Hodge carried the little goldfish around the nursing home and dropped it a few times but the little fish made it back to Memaw and Pawpaw's house safely. Memaw being the ultimate day care owner had a fish bowl at the daycare. We caught Hodge trying to grab the fish several times that weekend. He would swirl his hand around trying his hardest to catch the fish. We decided Memaw and Pawpaw could keep the fish for us at their house. I think Hodge will be surprised to see his goldfish again when we visit Memaw and Pawpaw!

Halloween 2010

We arrived home Saturday afternoon from our trip to South Texas to find a package on our front porch. Hodge's Yaya and Teadaddy sent him a box full of Halloween goodies. He loved the lollipops and the Halloween bucket that had a light in it! He was ready for Halloween with his new bucket! The next day we headed to the Grape Creek Baptist Church Pumpkin Patch to take photos and purchase some pumpkins. It was 92 degrees outside so Hodge did not wear his lion costume at the pumpkin patch. He absolutely loved the pretend jeep that was in the middle of the patch! I had a hard time getting him to take photos at some of the other areas. The people from the Grape Creek Baptist church were so nice, they gave Hodge some Halloween stickers and candy and even took a family photo for us. After picking out our pumpkins and taking a few photos we headed back to town to take part in the First United Methodist Church Trunk or Treat. What a neat event! Everything was free, from inflatable jumpers and slides, cotton candy, hotdogs, cokes, games, live music, and face painting. Hodge did not want to wear his costume at first. We had to let him walk around and see all the kids dressed in their costumes then he decided he wanted to go back to the car and get his on. He really liked his lion costume once he put it on because everyone told him how good he looked. He really was a cute little lion! He had a great time and so did we!

San Antonio Zoo!

We finally made a trip to the San Antonio Zoo. It was fun for me to watch Hodge experience everything at the zoo because I remember going to the San Antonio Zoo for field trips in elementary school and with my family as a little girl. We started our day out with a ride on the Brackenridge Park train, that is a San Antonio Zoo tradition. This miniature train is so much fun for kids and adults alike. The train tracks go thru Brackenridge Park and pass over the San Antonio River twice. Once the train ride was over we headed to the zoo so Hodge could see his favorite animals. Hodge had one request, he wanted to see the alligators. He keep saying the whole time, ALLIGATORS, until we found them. He also really enjoyed the petting zoo. We finished up our day with lunch at Tomatillos. Matt and I had our rehearsal dinner at Tomatillos in the Patio Room, this was over ten years ago. We had a great day in San Antonio, with great weather, great food and it was fun for our little boy.

Fun at the Park

Right across the street from Hodge's pediatrician's office is a wonderful park.  I have noticed how nice the park was but we never played on the wonderful playground. Well, a few weeks ago Hodge went to his pediatricians office to get his flu shot and after his visit he wanted to play on the playground. It is such a nice park and it has a great area for kids. Hodge had the best time so a few days later we went back to play some more. We invited Matt's grandmother, Nana, who lives right down the road from the park. The park has a lot of history because it was the first park in the city.  It opened in 1903 and was recently renovated. Nana told me that she would come to this park when she was a college student to play volleyball with her friends. This was in 1948. The fire station used to be right next door and all the college girls would come down to play volleyball with the single firemen. I loved hearing this story. Now Nana can come and watch Hodge play at this park.

Update from the Past Few Weeks!

We have a new family member. His name is Pete. He was the last puppy left in Daisy's litter. Daisy is Matt's mother's dog. Daisy is a full blooded lab and her summer romance was with a full blooded catahoula. I think Pete took after Daisy more. He was born with a little bump on his head. We took him because we figured no one would want him. The vet said that it is really nothing and will go away with a little antifungal cream. We think he is pretty special and a good dog for our family.


At the end of September Hodge and I made a trip down to Devine to visit my family. We had a good visit with Granny. Hodge also had fun visiting my mom's daycare and the ranch with my dad. My dad took Hodge to Alamo Hats to get a new cowboy hat. Hodge loves his cowboy hat but that day he did not act like it. He had just woke-up from a nap and was in a bad mood. Hodge also enjoyed playing with the kids at my mom's daycare. My mom's daycare is right across the street from my parent's house. So now Hodge gets it that he can go over anytime and play on the playground or join in the fun in one of the classrooms. He would wake up each morning and want to go see the kids.
